The Environmental and Energy Law Program takes an interdisciplinary approach to the scientific, economic, and ethical issues raised by environmental and energy law. After their first year at Chicago-Kent, students interested in enhancing their legal education by specializing in this field can focus their course of study.
Students must complete 14 credit hours of approved coursework that covers everything from national and international policy to land use regulation, the Clean Air Act, pollution controls, biodiversity conservation programs, and energy distribution.
The following four core courses, totaling 10 credit hours, are required to receive the Certificate in Environmental and Energy Law:
Environmental Law and Policy I
Environmental Law and Policy II
Energy Law
Environmental Law Seminar or an independent research project (following completion of Legal Writing 4)
