Student Legal Writing Competitions - January 2025
The following are writing competitions to which law students may be eligible to submit their writings. For future writing competition deadlines and competitions by subject, see the Library’s Student Legal Writing Competitions Guide.
Many competitions that normally have a January deadline have not yet been opened or announced; as such, there might be an additional Record announcement regarding January competitions.
John F. Burton Jr. College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Student Writing Competition
Deadline: January 15, 2024
The scope of permissible topics is broad, i.e., any aspect of workers’ compensation law. Students are encouraged to present:
- a public policy issue; (for example, “coverage for undocumented workers”);
- a critique of a leading case or doctrine; (for example, “your state’s criteria for exclusive remedy”); or
- a comment on a statute or the need for a statutory modification (for example, “criteria for mental-mental injury claims”).
