IIT Chicago-Kent’s Emily Schroeder Will Vie for the $10,000 “Winner-Take-All” Prize in the Top Gun National Mock Trial Competition

Emily Schroeder, a second-year student at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, will represent the law school in the 2014 Top Gun National Mock Trial Competition, held June 4 to 8 at Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas. Schroeder is one of only 16 law students nationwide to compete in this unique tournament.

Established in 2010, the Top Gun National Mock Trial Competition is organized by Baylor Law School and co-sponsored by the Texas law firm of Naman, Howell, Smith & Lee PLLC. It is an invitational tournament in which one advocate each from law schools with the best records in major competitions during the preceding school year compete for a $10,000 prize and recognition as the nation's best student advocate. Unlike most trial competitions, the Top Gun National Mock Trial Competition participants do not receive the details of the case they will argue until 24 hours before the tournament begins.

IIT Chicago-Kent "Top Gun" Emily Schroeder graduated from Purdue University with an honors degree in political science with minors in history and Italian. At IIT Chicago-Kent, Schroeder is a member of the Trial Advocacy Team and competed in the 2013 Tournament of Champions and the 2014 National Trial Competition's regional tournament.
