Cheers to Hands-On Learning: Spring 2024 Edition of Chicago-Kent Magazine Released

It’s a training ground where Chicago-Kent College of Law students learn to translate the law into results for real people with problems that need solving.
The hardworking team of clinical faculty at Chicago-Kent, led by Director of Clinical Education Jonathan Decatorsmith, aren’t just great lawyers, they’re great teachers. Because of them, Chicago-Kent upholds one of its core values by providing hands-on legal training to every student prior to graduation, providing our recent graduates with a leg-up in the job market and providing lifelong lessons to the alumni who started their careers in the C-K Law Group offices.
In the spring 2024 issue of Chicago-Kent Magazine, four alumni who got their start in the clinics are featured. Laura Forester ’91 is one of only five administration judges in the state of Illinois who regulate nearly all licensed professions. Brian Warrens ’11 puts the humanity into estate planning, making sure that his clients understand the law during a time of intense grief. Monica Whitten ’23 built a career in commercial real estate before adversity put a damper on her career, but she never lets anything stop her for long. Ryan Jacobson ’99 specializes in First Amendment law in the digital age, often venturing into areas that law has never been before.
