Jodi Hill joined Chicago-Kent College of Law as a visiting assistant professor in July 2024 after a distinguished career in public interest law. Prior to joining the Chicago-Kent faculty, she worked as a staff attorney at the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center in New Orleans. During her time there, she filed lawsuits in federal district courts under the Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act, representing clients at every stage of federal court litigation. Notably, she earned a favorable settlement for a client who was experiencing continued sexual harassment under housing provider HHF Beechgrove, LLC. She also filed housing discrimination complaints with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, representing clients at every stage of the administrative process. As a staff attorney at Disability Rights Louisiana, she represented clients in a wide variety of federal litigation matters, primarily employment and public accommodation discrimination suits arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act. She also monitored the Louisiana Department of Health’s compliance with Chisholm v. Gee, a federal consent decree mandating improved administration of Medicaid service for minors with developmental disabilities.
Prior to graduating from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law with her Juris Doctor, Hill engaged in extensive clerking work for the Dovalina Law Group; for the chief legal counsel for the Louisiana Federation of Teachers at Rittenberg, Samuel & Phillips, LLC; for the Loyola Gillis Long Poverty Law Program at the New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice; and for the Loyola Gillis Long Poverty Law Program at the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center. She also served as a litigation and public policy strategist for Loyola’s Human Rights Advocacy Project.
She’s active in the community, acting as board president for the Serve Louisiana AmeriCorps Program and as a member of JOIN for Clean Air, the Louisiana State Bar Association Legal Services for Persons with Disabilities Committee, and the National Lawyers Guild Housing and Homeless Committee.
Hill graduated with her B.A. in Political Science from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2012. She is licensed to practice law in Louisiana.
