Justice and Technology Practicum LAW 506

Description

Students will explore access to justice issues, including the use of technology in the delivery of legal services to low-income litigants; the process of designing self-help resources at scale; and how emerging technology affects the ethical obligations of lawyers. Class meets two (2) hours each week to discuss assigned readings on those and other relevant topics. Students will also learn how to develop A2J Guided Interviews in A2J Author, a program that helps self-represented litigants navigate a legal process and complete legal forms. Students will learn how to develop A2J Guided Interviews through modules designed to teach certain aspects of the program. Additionally, students will conduct legal research on an access to justice problem and propose a solution using A2J Author. No prior technical training is required beyond normal computer familiarity with word processing.
